Ok, I must be doing something right! And normally I’m not one to toot my own horn, but this excited me tremendously.

For those that do not know who James J. Jones is, please make a note to go learn more, add yourself to his list, check out his most famous product “Micro Niche Finder” and you’ll be as extremely pleased as I was when you do!

He’s been online and working this marketing thing longer than most internet marketing experts that I’ve heard of (his first computer was a Timex! Did you know that they even made computers??)! That should tell you something!

Anyways, he has thousands and thousands of happy customers and he offers his affiliates an opportunity to be “chosen” to be spotlighted in front of all of his followers on Facebook, as well as to his entire list!

Well, I was chosen and can be seen right now (until November 22nd)!! I just thought it’d be cool to share that he has this great affiliate opportunity available, turn you on to him if you’ve never had the opportunity to learn from a master, and see that I actually might know a thing or two about this IM stuff too! :)

Keep smiling!

Secret Weapon: Micro Niche Finder for Local Marketing

Posted on November 5, 2010
Filed Under General | Leave a Comment

When I first used Micro Niche Finder it was to ferret out those golden nugget keywords that paid off almost immediately with one page blog review sites. I thought I’d hit the jackpot but I was WRONG!

Even though I own more than 500 domains now for affiliate marketing…it was when I started using MNF for Local Marketing that I REALLY hit the jackpot :)

That’s because local marketing is so much less competitive. It takes a few minutes, not months, to get a site indexed and ranked if there is less competition for the keyword. Here’s how I market locally – and how I use my secret weapon, MicoNicheFinder to keep my choices profitable.

First off…the process. The key to local marketing is to bring a personal connection on the local level. The easiest way to do this is to set up a WordPress review site. Have you heard of affiliates writing a review and recommending a product? This is the same concept but on a local level.

The review site allows you to openly engage customers with real human stories. Infamous salesman Zig Ziglar coined the phrase, “People don’t buy from companies, they buy from people.” Review sites are totally focused on people sharing their experiences which makes this model highly effective.

Let’s say you wanted to tell everyone about a cool weight loss plan. Is it really possible to get a site indexed and ranked quickly in such a competitive market? Using the “local” marketing method – YES!

Here is what the resulting web site will look like – conceptually speaking.

Local Marketing – Web Site Targeting Local Markets

One of the easiest ways to get a review site ranked and traffic to it (traffic should mean sales for you!) is to select the main keyword phrase with care. I love MNF for this because it’s so easy to select the right keyword phrase. There are three easy steps to follow:

   1. Find the long tail keyword with MNF.
      a. Look at the available domains
      b. At least 1000 searches per month
   2. Make it “local”. (target the location with the most searches)
   3. Buy the domain and create the one page review site.

From start to finish, thanks to MNF, this a process that can takes less than an hour depending on your experience. For me, it takes about 20 minutes.

1. FIND THE BEST KEYWORD

Starting with MNF, the keyword research is a breeze. You can easily see if a particular domain is available as well as targeting a keyword phrases that have at least 1000 searches per month on them.

2. ADD THE GEOGRAPHIC MODIFIER

Use Google Trends to see which “local” keyword to target. Google will tell you the top cities and regions where the keyword phrase is searched on. Select the top 5 – 10 to start your site.

3. BUY THE DOMAIN & CREATE THE SITE

Here’s what’s critical. Look at forums to find good stories customers have shared. Because it’s all about story telling, And story telling is the oldest and most powerful format in the history of the human race. It’s in our DNA.

To write an inspired story, review or testimonial keep it simple. Start with a problem, tell them how to remedy it, tell them again and close by reminding them again.

Always try a positive headline for your blog post and remember to use the same keywords as your home page.

Here are three things to keep in mind as you blog…

  • If you need help writing, consider outsourcing to Fiverr or contacts at the Warrior Forum.
  • Spell check – but keep the blog tone conversational – not perfect grammar.
  • Get comments! Encourage response at every occasion. Create a reward or sweepstakes for feedback – the first 25 people who leave a comment will be entered into a drawing for a free report or a coupon. Get creative so you can engage your audience. The more comments, the more credibility your review site gets.

What’s really cool about blogs and especially review sites is you can adjust your marketing efforts on what’s being said. I like to call this real-time marketing strategy.

Remember to make new review sites for each keyword that MNF tells y0u is good. Create different pages or posts targeting the different geographic areas. Use different key words on each so you can more effectively target the audience you need to connect with. That’s one highly effective way to use MNF to make money with local marketing.

Here is a conceptual diagram of the website from the example once we’ve finished the research:

The IM Reports

One of the first thing that strikes me whenever I go to a new internet marketing site is how they try to share with you all the things you can do with their products and services, and then of course, want you to buy them, right?

Makes sense…you almost expect it. Do I have products to share with you? Sure I do…but my goal for this site, and the reason I’m in this niche, is to help others find personal success. And the more and more I talk to people out there, the more amazed at how little everyone knows (still).

I mean, let’s face it…small technical things like how to create a WordPress database in your Cpanel, or setting up a forwarder email address; these things can scare most non-technical people, even if you and I could do it in our sleep.

So it made me realize that I needed to help by sharing my knowledge and over 15 years of technical experience (degree in Information Systems) and all the offline and online marketing skills I’ve amassed over the years, and create something easy and extremely inexpensive.

The IM Reports is born!

Shameless plug? Hell ya! It’s my blog! (ok, wasn’t too comfortable being shameless…easing off now!)

I am excited about it, though…and it’s not just about technical stuff or some rehashed marketing stuff. I actually find things that are NOT out there yet, and bring it to my friends.

I also bring a cool form of The IM Reports that we’re calling the “Just In Time” Reports, that could be seasonal, or perhaps it is an in depth report on how to “really” use a new strategy or piece of software, or whatever it is that has just been launched!

Either way, check it out. The IM Reports site is new, as we’re just ramping it up…but I guarantee you’ll get great info there, and the pricing will be in the “Big Mac” range (perhaps with fries…depending on the subject)!

Thanks for your ear!

Jason’s Gone Wild!

For those of you that do not know of Jason Fladlien, then you need to be properly introduced! He is no-nonsense, tell-it-like-it-is, and has the most infectious laugh you’ve ever heard!

I’ve been on a number of webinars with Jason in the past, but it wasn’t until I met him face-to-face in Las Vegas that I truly became mesmerized by his style! However, I had never been in one of his full training sessions before until last week Thursday!

And that’s when I heard it…he captivated us with his brilliance and no bull**** way of delivering incredible content. I LOVED it!!

His course is about Product Creation and it’s rare to have one session that packs so much in! (John S. Rhodes’ Juggernaut SEO training is the only other one that comes to mind!)

I mean, I was literally creating a product, after hearing one of his ideas that stood out in my mind as a “must do”, while still trying to take notes and keep up with him!

And to top things off, as an exclusive bonus to me and only 14 others, I have the extreme pleasure of getting to interview him…at NO COST!

As the interview is totally up to me, I can ask him just about anything! And while I have some ideas, I’d love to know what you might want to know from Jason…and because this interview will happen within the next few weeks during this course, you’ll need to submit them to me quickly!

After all, when else can you get a high-priced consultant to answer YOUR question for nothing?

So let’s take advantage of this opp, and leave me some comments below and I’ll see about adding your questions to my list!

Keep smiling!
Ross

PS: I can’t guarantee that all questions will make the interview, but feel free to add as many as you want and I’ll use as many as I can!

Unearthing Hidden Domain/Niche “Nuggets”

Posted on September 22, 2010
Filed Under General | Leave a Comment

I know this is not a typical blog post; usually you KNOW when you’re going to create one, and what the subject will be.  You’d think that if I wanted to do a review of the product Domainerincome.com, I’d just review it and be done with it.

However, I hadn’t even gotten through one tab (module) of the free version of this product when I found myself lost in my own “domain and keyword research”, after uncovering another new niche possibility.

This happens to me quite a lot, where I start doing one thing and find myself totally in another part of the ‘net, lost in research, after accidentally finding a hidden nugget!

And when I recognized that it had happened again, I decided that I’d wake up and immediately create a video showing how “if you’re prepared”, you too, can unearth a cool niche with great possibilities, and even better, GREAT available domains!

Ok, the video explains it all, but in a nutshell, I was just starting to review Simon Johnson’s new product, Domainer Income, which is in beta right now.  And since there is both a paid and free version, I started with the free account to see what you would get, and what was part of the paid version.

Simon’s an awesome guy and has been in the domain business way longer than I have, and really knows his stuff!  And he’s created an actual platform to help us find great domains from multiple sources.

And no sooner did I try the first module called Expired Domains, did I find, not just the one domain I liked using his product, but a whole slew of available domains in the same niche!  I was very excited, because the CPC (average Cost per Click) was between $5 and $8 for each keyword in the list!

Soon, I’ll be showing how I actually monetize sites that I create after finding great keywords and domains, so keep an eye out for that!

I’ll also finish that review of his cool product Domainer Income and when I have more info on it, I’ll share my findings.

Anyways, enjoy the video, leave some feedback when you’ve ever found yourself “lost online” and accidentally found an incredible niche!

Keep smiling!

Are Most Online “Gurus” like Las Vegas?

Posted on August 15, 2010
Filed Under General | 1 Comment

First, let me describe Las Vegas, if you’ve never been.  I was just there a few weeks ago, and it had been 10 years since my last visit, and almost 20 years since my first visit.  And one thing remains the same: Las Vegas at night is way different than Las Vegas during the day.

It is almost eerie, what a transformation takes place once the sun sets on this desert city.  The most glaring detail is the fact that it is in a desert, which you might not even realize at night.  At night, there’s so many lights and activity, that you feel as if you’ve been transported to a new dimension.

At night, the city comes alive, begging you to play with it, to immerse yourself in its energy and excitement, and believe that anything is possible.  During the day, when you might be expecting to feel the same…you can’t!  The city that was your playground has turned into any other city with Chase Banks, CVS Pharmacies, and local kids’ baseball games.

Not that this is a bad thing, mind you…but when you watch all the advertising on TV or in magazines, you only see it in the dark, with the lights and slots and innuendos of thrills that you can’t get at home, calling on your emotions to become someone else, even if it is just for the weekend.

So, if Las Vegas were a person, you’d almost think that it had two distinct personalities, belief systems, values, and objectives.  And to some degree, most people are probably the same, as we all have a variety of characteristics that we show depending on who we’re with, what we’re doing, and what we’re trying to accomplish.

Online “gurus”, then, can easily be put into this same category.  However, I believe that some of them have more of the “Las Vegas” distinction, where they are someone completely different when they want you to buy from them, versus when you are not buying.

Glitter and lights!  Lots of hype!  Dollar signs everywhere!  Ads on how you can “make it big” online!  And when the sun comes up, you find you’ve lost that feeling of exhilaration and like a desert…everyone’s gone, and you’re left with a handful of sand!

Was it a dream?  Did I imagine it all?  And you know how you feel next…we’ve all been there.  Empty…lost.  Until, the next sunset…the next “guru” comes along, and you see that what they’re selling is the one!  And the lights come back on, the dinging bells, the loud sound of money “cha-chinging”!

From personal experience, when you notice this the most from a guru, and how they really feel, is when you actually spend money to meet them at a conference or seminar.  While they are on stage, you are excited, you feel that energy, and you know they have what you need!

But then, during the break, you want to shake this person’s hand…hell, you want to hug them, you’re so excited!  And after standing in line, trying to get to them, you realize by their reaction (or lack therof), what are you to them at this moment?  A mere handshake, 2 minutes of their time, and what else can I sell you?

Then one day, I decided to go back to Las Vegas, to meet some “gurus” I’ve been following, and some new ones I’ve never met.  My hopes were high, but still guarded, so not to be disappointed by the event or the people running it.

It was called Practical Profits, and the following names there presenting:

John S. Rhodes
Matt Rhodes
Jason Fladlien
James J. Jones
Tim Castleman
Rachel Rofe
Wil Mattos

I only knew of, and follow, Jason and James…the others’ presentations would be the first time I’d heard them and learn from them.  And since I love Jason and James on webinars, I thought I’d love them in person…and had hoped that they would assemble others that had similar values, beliefs and objectives.

With fingers crossed, I was the first person to enter the conference room (I like getting there early to scope out where the electricity is, so I can connect my laptop…hehe!) and make sure I found something up front, so I didn’t miss a thing.

They say the “early bird gets the worm”…and, that is mostly true!  And in this case, I was not disappointed, as immediately I met Jason and Wil, in person.  From the first minute, and throughout the conference, I was introduced to, and spent time with experts that really were genuine people who cared for my success.

Not only was the content incredible, and there was no sales pitching going on (as advertised), but all of the speakers were approachable, not just one or two.  They all were!  I was blown away, surprised, and relieved, to say the least.

So, it is IMHO (in my honest opinion, for those that don’t text or chat), where most online gurus are a lot like Las Vegas, where they only show you the hype, glitter,  and lights, to get you to buy something, they are NOT all like this.

And I’m proud to say I’ve met them, follow them, promote them, and one day, will work with them!

Now it’s your turn: what are your thoughts on gurus you’ve met?  Are they cool, or are they like “Las Vegas”?  Leave me a comment and I promise I read them all, and reply when necessary!

Keep smiling!
